Welcome to the new and improved VBI!
The official launch of the new VBI system was 1st May 2009.
All VBI students will be using the new system now. If you are a student from the OLD VBI system you can login to the NEW VBI system using the same student number and password you used to access the OLD system. Your personal profile and records have been bought across. Please do not re-register.
Do familiarize yourself with the new system. Read through the files on the Help tab and go through the documents on the Wiki.
Facts about the changes:
- VBI is moving its head office to the USA. Happy Leman is the chairman of the board.
- The real owners are 10 founding Partner Churches in the USA that contribute personnel to the board. The legal documents, bank account etc. are in process.
- The operational base will continue to be in Cape Town, under Derek Morphew.
- A total system upgrade has taken place. The new system incorporates Moodle (educational management system) and Joomla (content management system).
- All users in the USA must be members of a Partner Church, or be linked to a Partner church. Please contact Penny Moisson This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for details on this.
- Being linked to a Partner Church will allow you access to courses on School of Ministry level.
Other changes are as follows:
- As part of the new system, a new entry level has been added, called School of Ministry.
- Home groups from the old system will no longer have access to their material or records. The new system does not have Home groups; rather groups can register students on the new ‘School of Ministry’ level.
- There are no Mentors on the new system.
- There are no Ministry Schools - they have been replaced by the Partner Church system.
The names of the levels have changed as follows:
- School of Ministry (abridged course material)
- Diploma level (same as old Discipleship level)
- Advanced Diploma level (same as old Licentiate level or courses done on Academic level)
- BCS Degree level (unchanged)
- All existing student logins and records will reflect on the new system. Credit values remain unchanged.
- There is no need to re-register – all your login details have been transferred across to the new system so you can login with the same student number and password.
